Many of us dream about living an extraordinary life and achieving our goals, but Neptune in Pisces can make it feel like reality is just out of reach, and we’re doomed to spend the rest of our lives playing small. While this may be true in some cases, the good news is that this retrograde cycle will give you the opportunity to redefine your definition of success and achieve your dreams by learning to live in the present moment and pay attention to your heart’s true desires. Here are three steps to help you navigate Neptune retrograde and have your dreams on!
What is Neptune Retrograde?
Every year, all the planets in our solar system appear to travel backward for a brief period of time. This is an optical illusion caused by the Earth’s movement around the Sun. When a planet is in retrograde, it appears to be moving backward from our perspective on Earth. Because Neptune takes 165 years to orbit the sun, its backward motion lasts much longer than any other planet- approximately 18 months at a time.
The first thing we notice when it happens is that things seem slower and out of sync with reality. It can feel like life has taken on a different form or pace as if you’re seeing everything happen in slow motion or through the water. Your intuition may go into overdrive so pay attention! That said, it’s also important not to jump too quickly into anything during this time because your head could just be playing tricks on you. Don’t forget that even though Neptune rules dreams and creativity, sometimes what we see as real isn’t necessarily true- even if we know this intellectually.

As the planet of dreams, during Neptune retrograde, we may find ourselves re-evaluating what we want out of life. This is a time to get in touch with our intuition and let go of anything that’s no longer serving us. When Neptune is in Pisces, we are more prone to daydreaming and living in our own little world. Our imagination is running wild, and we can get lost in our thoughts. Spend 10 to 15 minutes every day imagining yourself living out your dream—whether that’s moving to Paris, taking your family on vacation, or any other dream that resonates with you. Visualizing is a powerful tool because it helps you see what your life could be like if only it were different, which can help put things into perspective and allow you to see opportunities for change.
Tips for Navigating Retrogrades
- First, take a deep breath. It’s going to be okay!
- Have patience. These next few months may require some extra effort, but it will all be worth it in the end.
- Be flexible. Things may not go according to plan, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still achieve your goals.
- Stay positive. It’s easy to get caught up in the negative during retrogrades, but try to focus on the good as well.
